A recent thread has made me think that there have been some good and some bad bad guys in cinema. So, name some if you want. Like LT’s book thread, this is all opinion.
There can be only one. With a James Earl dropping the vocals on Big Black, there can be no arguement in my mind.

Highlander.
For a dude whose real name is Clancy, The Kurgan rocked out loud.July 18, 2007 at 3:13 pm #50544Well, for my money, there ain’t nothing like Agent Smith in the Matrix:
July 18, 2007 at 3:31 pm #50545Vader is awesome, but he was merely an extention of this guys will.
Don’t get me wrong, Vader is on the all time list and was #1 for many many years for me.. but Palpatine to me is just a cut above.

July 18, 2007 at 3:52 pm #50547This guy had brittle bones and a short life expectancy, his villany birthed a superhero (as many do) but this guy wasn’t a genious or rich.. just a guy with an agenda that left a trail of bodies. No remourse, the end totally justified the means.
Mr Glass
July 18, 2007 at 3:55 pm #50548heheh, this might be pushing it a bit but who didn’t think this guy was a total bastard back in the day?
“Sweep the leg”
“No mercy”
“I don’t want him beat!… out of comission.”July 18, 2007 at 4:20 pm #50549If you look at sweep the leg in the era, it fits.
July 18, 2007 at 4:23 pm #50550July 18, 2007 at 4:31 pm #50551How about Taylor Negron in “The Last Boy Scout”?
“Take Chet’s body out of here and fix Mr. Hallenbeck a drink.”
“I AM the bad guy.”

Whose best role was in “Better Off Dead” as the postman, “What’s a little boy like you want with big boy smut like this?”
How ’bout another, tying in with the James Earl Jones factor:
At least until he was f’ed up by the MAN!:

Lon Cheney – Master of Monsters
July 18, 2007 at 6:44 pm #50557Which category does he fall into? And did you even WATCH that movie?
July 18, 2007 at 6:57 pm #50558Actually, I used to watch him as a kid. I always found the “monsters” amusing. The Phantom effected me more then Frankenstein’s Monster or the Werewolf. Loved him in the Abbott & Costello movie.
Always loved the classic monsters.
And yet, I am not a fan of thrillers and gore fests.
July 18, 2007 at 7:06 pm #50559Weekend mornings used to be much better IMO.

July 19, 2007 at 12:16 am #50562Two hits.
July 19, 2007 at 2:14 am #50563I’m sorta stuck… so I’ll just post all three.
These two actually made me think twice about mouthing off to people.
July 19, 2007 at 8:30 am #50564I dunno about old school, but its hard to beat a smart, charismatic sociopath. I’ve been watching Avatar: The Last Airbender lately with my kids and I’ve discovered a top notch villain. I think only Palatine can compete with Azula:

July 19, 2007 at 8:54 am #50565I’m surprised T hasn’t posted him yet.
Priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!
July 19, 2007 at 12:25 pm #50566Thats a niiiice bike…
I’ll take the improved terminator from T2. Although Clancy in highlander was the first thing that popped into my head.
Willow’s General Kael was good, from a brutality standpoint. Too bad they named him after a cabbage.
Curse all you picture people.
July 19, 2007 at 12:27 pm #50567Ia, ya gotta whip those hamsters into shape.
“BANDWIDTH, WE NEED MORE BANDWIDTH!”
July 19, 2007 at 2:20 pm #50568Personally, I’d have to vote for:

how is she not in here already?I think because whenever I even think of Kathy Bates, I am bombarded by visions of her in the movie “Titanic.”
Almost nearly the same principle applies with this guy:
