Yo
just got back a couple hours ago and figured now is as good a time as any to start discussing the next gathering.
Main thing to nail down is where….
we don’t want half or better of the crowd to totally bitch out in the waning moments, like this year 😛
June 2, 2008 at 12:33 am #56488so muddy you start saving a dollar a day… course in your current situation that might be hard.
Remus, that goes for you too. Though at the rate of the dollar devaluation you might be able to visit over here for just a few pounds.

June 2, 2008 at 12:37 pm #56489My problem is that it’s tough to get anywhere “cheap”. Rochester isn’t a direct flight, neither is Syracuse, and New York or Buffalo has a long drive.
I’ll try to square some $$$ away. My vote would be Rochester, that’s where the greatest amount of us live at.
June 3, 2008 at 12:08 am #56490GATHERING IN THE CORN ROWS!!!
June 3, 2008 at 12:27 am #56491I’ll have a couple 7 month old newborn twins… you all want to get in on the diaper action or something?
June 3, 2008 at 3:16 am #56492count me in … if that is ok? I would hate for G to drive that far alone again.
June 3, 2008 at 12:36 pm #56493I just want to reenact a scene from children of the corn and freak out some farmer’s daughters is all.
Monty and Vlan keep pushing Lake George. With the exception of a web connection, it sounds like guy heaven.
June 3, 2008 at 12:54 pm #56494X you’re always welcome in my book…
and anywhere is fine by me with enough warning.

June 3, 2008 at 1:17 pm #56495I talked to my Cayuga Lake Cottage connection last night. It should be doable. And they have web. The size is the only issue. I have to go look at it.
She’s taking me out there later this week to check it out.
June 3, 2008 at 10:12 pm #56496“She?”
“Checking it out?”
BAM!
June 4, 2008 at 2:02 pm #56497BUMP!!

Now, you don’t think you’ll be leaving your wife with those 2 kiddies to go hang with a bunch of guys you met in game?
That’s crazy! 🙂
As for diapers, 7 month old is no problem. It’s the 2+ year old stank (now with added corn for your visual pleasure!) that gets tiresome.
And here’s three tidbits of advice that no one ever told me before I had a kid:
Diapers are good, but don’t assume they are anywhere near 100% effective. You will be cleaning poop off your baby and their clothes, maybe daily.
Your kid will give you every illness they get. And they get a lot. Be prepared for more GI events than you’ve had since you were a kid.
Your kid will puke in your car. It will stink, and be completely gross. But you’ll love those little ones more than you can think.

ah yes, many memories of freshly upchucked 1/2 digested milk. Lumpystank goodness!
June 4, 2008 at 7:56 pm #56500heh, kids are gods way of boosting your immunities.
Now back to the subject at hand.
Where, and who will be able to make it?
I want a location that is optimal. And no, Remus, England isn’t optimal, though interesting.

June 4, 2008 at 7:58 pm #56501I already knew of those three tidbits, but I do appreciate the info.
I can’t wait for a nice solid food blowout that stains the back up to the back of the neck. My co worker tells me of the horrific “blueberry blow out” of 2001 that his daughter had.
She somehow dyed her hair blueberry after she shat up her back, over her neck, and into her hair… through diapers and a onesie.
Impressive, MOST impressive.

😯
Actually, that had me giggling at my desk just now.

Not nearly as funny as picturing Steve at a desk … let alone with his Horsepower head on.
😆
June 5, 2008 at 1:24 pm #56504Aw, I at least look all grown up. I’m a full-fledged, certified Career Facilitator these days.
It’s the night jobs where I’m an obvious degenerate… 😉
June 5, 2008 at 2:02 pm #56505*does a double take*
Hmmm… nearly instant response time… desk… computer…
Steve has come over to the Desk side!!
*in his best James Earl Jones through a mask voice*
Use the IM, Steve. I can FEEL your nerdiness growing. Give in to your HATE. Download an IM client and STRIKE at me!
June 5, 2008 at 2:04 pm #56506I too thought the image of his Steveness at a desk was amusing.
June 5, 2008 at 2:07 pm #56507Not nearly as amusing as the fact that he’s got THE pillow on the desk next to him…. ready for instant action should he come across any of THOSE sites while surfing.

The pillow was my only companion on my bike trip this past May. 8)
June 5, 2008 at 5:17 pm #56509I can see a whole video montage of Horsepower trying to do a desk job after a blowout with the band. Then the triumphant return to music making.
June 5, 2008 at 6:08 pm #56510Already been done:

http://buzzfeed.com/peggy/crazy-office-guyI thought I gave the impression I was a lot less uptight than that guy…Seriously!
Regarding the video…What a mess. But the sadder thing was the bunch of lemmings simply crowding into the corners while he had his little tantrum.
June 5, 2008 at 8:32 pm #56512Yes you did… but where’s the entertainment value in a guy chilling at his desk?
Actually, there’s evidence that this is actually faked. There’s another version in color from one of the ‘lemmings’ who shot video on his cell phone (the guy in the tie in the upper right). That version has audio and you can hear that they’re speaking Russian. That being said, there are some inconsistencies:
– A Russian surveillance camera having English language coding and time-stamp (could be an English system)
– No monitor cables (wireless monitors?)
– No keyboard cables (wireless?)
– At the end, the guy is hit with stun-guns. He collapses to the floor… but has the presence of mind to loosen his tie.
– It takes security almost 2 minutes to show up (slow elevator?)Make you own assumptions, but I have the feeling that this one is like most of the “Office Rampage” videos. A fake.
June 5, 2008 at 9:39 pm #56513lol this thread has digressed. Well that’s to be expected. Vlan, why do you have a video loading icon for an avatar? Also I suspected fake too, for the monitor having no plug thing as well. Though the english on the cam might be too, but Russians use a lot of outside tech so it’s not that shocking.
Steve, sitting a desc job takes practice. Get the hang of it then go IM crazy…

June 6, 2008 at 1:10 am #56514It actually the Mac ‘startup’ animation as well as the generic Apple “loading” animation. Why do I have it for an avatar? Dunno… I like the way it looks. It’s sort of a high-tech approach to a zen mediation or prayer wheel.
July 18, 2008 at 6:57 pm #56515OK…. trying to get this thread SOMEWHAT back on track.
Once again I’d like to offer the Lake House as a location for Gathering ’09. Should this be the location selected I’ll get cable internet access to the house for the weekend.
July 20, 2008 at 3:28 pm #56516That location sounds good to me. Do we have any other suggested options?
