Here’s a place that has several little tidbits from DRM to DLC stuff.
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/dragon-age/
And here’s something similar on IGN
http://pc.ign.com/objects/682/682217.html
I’m really looking forward to this game and I think the release date is set for September 30th 2009. I know I’m going to love this game, too bad it doesn’t have any multi-player. Perhaps they will add some at a later date, but that’s just IMHO.
Peace,
CorMay 17, 2009 at 1:50 am #57524If it does ont have the same DRM system as Spore, Bioshock and MassEffect, then count me in. Bioware has been talking about DA since they shipped NWN1.
Then again, considering that EA own bio, I think I’ll be giving it a pass. Game companies don’t get to modify my os…
May 17, 2009 at 4:50 am #57525It’s supposed to just do a disk check to see if DA is in the drive:
“According to Community Coordinater Chris Priestly, the only type of anti-piracy that’s being put on to any version of the game distributed by EA or BioWare is a disc check. Moreover, it won’t even require that the disk be checked online for authenticity.”
So, that sounds like good news on the DRM front for once!

CorOctober 13, 2009 at 6:01 am #57526Here’s a new cinematic trailer for BioWare’s forthcoming role-playing adventure Dragon Age:

I suggest watching it in high res.

October 26, 2009 at 7:17 pm #57528Having trouble deciding if I want to order it or not. On the plus side, it looks awesome and it is in the same vein and Baldurβs Gate. I loved BG and Iβve even pondered buying a more modern widescreen than the one I have now that can mimic the old 4×3 format and I can play BG without it looking stupid.
On the other hand, I exceed the minimum spec, but donβt match the recommended; having only a 8600GT with 256mg or RAM. This is a recipe for crappy framerates. That and it will take 100 hours to complete, putting me atβ¦ oh about April or May for completion.
And after three years of work, I’m REALLY close to (8-12 weeks) completing my ruleset processing language and engine. Getting sucked into DA would delay it π
October 27, 2009 at 10:45 pm #57529Heya Cayle,
Well, if you’re so close to finishing your ruleset and processing language… perhaps you could finish that first and then treat yourself to Dragon Age. After all, you definately deserve it after working on this project for so long, right?
I know I can’t wait to get my hands on DA because I have no will power when it comes to games, lol. But… I also pre-ordered it so I’ll be at the store November 3rd come hell or high water waiting for my copy!
Peace,
CorNovember 3, 2009 at 6:12 am #57530I preordered it too. Looks like this might one of those call in sick to work games.
November 5, 2009 at 1:58 am #57531The commercials here on TV have been really good. I might break down and buy it in a few months.
Time to get a new job. This one sucks now……
November 6, 2009 at 3:59 pm #57532I’m on my way today to pick this bad boy up….

November 6, 2009 at 6:16 pm #57533So… did anyone else notice who’s doing the voice over for Morrigan? Anyone? I’ll give ya a hint or two: She’s been on 2 major sci-fi shows in the past few years, and 1 sci-fi movie. (That I know of) And no cheating using the wiki or whatever!
Besides that, I’m really enjoying the game so far. Not that I’ve gotten far into it yet, but I’m still enjoying it. π It’s sort of a cross between 3 games: Mass Effect, KotOR, and Baldur’s Gate. Anyone get the message yet that says: You must gather your party before venturing forth…? Hehe a nice little nod to Baldur’s Gate. Oh, and I’m really enjoying the amount of voice dialog that they have and character interactions. Well done so far. Anyways…
I’ll be interested to see who’s playing what character/class and your tales of adventures to come.
Peace,
CorPS: The lady that does the singing for the main theme has a simply beautiful voice. I could listen to her songs over and over.
November 8, 2009 at 10:25 am #57534I wanted to say I am about 10 hours in so far. I’ve complete the background story, a few sidequests, and one of the story sections. I am playing on the harder difficulty (not nightmare) so my party does get hit with my spells, which can be a problem. After I play through it once, I am going to try a dwarf rogue assassin on nightmare. Though an evil bloodmage might be fun too. So far I think mages are vastly superior to the other classes. Often times my party will be wiped out with the exception of my mage. I do set the ai, and sometimes pause the game to dish out assignments. I have been forced to add con points to many of the party members as they seemed to get smoked. I have unlocked 3 other party members in addition to the 2 you start with.
Here’s my character
Race: Elf
Class:Mage
Level: 10
Specializations: Arcane Warrior (though I haven’t used it yet)
Alignment: he’d be good if there was an alignment
Favorite spell so far: virilent walking bomb (I love seeing the enemies explode) I have not used any elemental spells, I was trying to stay away from them.November 10, 2009 at 5:00 am #57535not sure what her real name is, but she was Vala in SG1……

We have a winner!!!
Her name is Claudia Black. She played in Farscape and SG1 as well as in one of my favorite movies: Pitch Black.
As far as my character specs go:
Race: Human
Origin: Noble
Class: Warrior
Level: 13
Specializations: Champion
Alignment: Neutral/Good
Favorite attack: Shield Bash. I love knocking my opponents over so I (And my companions) can get in some free attacks on them. Of course I hate when they do it to me.
Current Party Members: Shale, Leliana, Wynne, and myself. Though I do like Morrigan as well.My rogue Leliana gets the crap kicked out of her quite often. I’m glad she has some abilities with a bow so she can use that and hang back. I do use the pause & play feature a lot too to give my guys orders.
Peace,
CorNovember 11, 2009 at 5:43 pm #57537Race: Human
Origin: Noble
Class: Rogue
Level: 4
Specialization: Dualist
Alignment: True neutralJust started so not much to tell yet.
November 15, 2009 at 12:24 am #57538Just finished in a shade under 50 hours. Going to do another play through and go evil this time.
Final Character:
Elf Mage
Level 21
Spec: Arcane Warrior/Spirit HealerBest companions: Leliana (Ranger/Bard) with song of courage and a maxed spider companion she survived almost all of my battles. The spider rocks. Wynne (Healer/Arcane Warrior) ran out of magic quickly but was still useful.
Worst companions: Sten (Champion) this idiot got killed in less than 30 seconds in every fight, even wearing a full set of legion of the dead armor.
I unlocked 100% of the maps and did all but one sidequest that I know of. After maxing Arcane Warrior, my main char became an unstoppable tank that averaged a total of over 60 damage on a regular hit. Fully buffed he would only receive 1 damage from a common monster, and this was on hard.
I missed unlocking bloodmage and reaver, but got all the rest. Shapeshifter was crap. I also finished all the companion sidequests.
Has anyone figured out what you can do with the black vials. I killed 5 revenants (I didn’t kill the one in Denerim). Just wondering what happed if you killed them all.

Um.. okay, I feel kinda dumb for asking, but how did you get Leliana to be a split class? I didn’t know you could even do that with the characters, doh! π³
November 22, 2009 at 4:05 am #57540Your char gets to select specializations at level 7 and 14. If you have your companions for those levels you can pick a second class for them. Some like sten don’t have any. Not sure if you can take two with him, I have him champion. I made the bard a ranger, the assassin a duelist, and the old lady an arcane warrior. Oh and I made Morgainne a healer. I missed bloodmage because my char was a good guy. I’d like to do a play through and have 3 bloodmages, but I doubt that will happen.
I started a new game with a human noble fighter on nightmare. Currently he’s level 6 and uses two weapon fighting tree. Even on nightmare he cruised through the first few areas. He’s currently stuck on the tower boss during the big battle. I refuse to turn down the difficulty to beat him, so there he sits, having died like 20 times. Was going to go for a Reaver/Berzerker.
I experimented with a dwarven rogue and just didn’t like it. On nightmare she kept getting smoked. Nothing beats an arcane warrior fully buffed. The replay value of the game isn’t as good as mass effect in my opinion.
November 22, 2009 at 4:26 am #57541I hope your jelous… I just picked up Dragon age for Free!
I won a $50 gift card from work… hehehe So, while I was in Portland this last Wed-Friday I bought it due tot he no tax on sales there. Muahaha! Fate must be telling me something.
Though I must finish fable before I install it. 20gig of free space? really?

Though I must finish fable before I install it. 20gig of free space? really?Yeah Opi, there’s a TON of voice acting and music for this game. The main intro theme is the best in my opinion. That lady has a beautiful voice. Anyways, hope you enjoy the game man!

And, duh! I totally forgot about those choices at level 7 and 14. Think I made the bard a dualist and something else. I don’t remember off the top of my head. But, thank you for your reply Val,

CorganoNovember 29, 2009 at 3:49 am #57543Well Fable was a breeze.. beautiful, but a breeze and went FAST! On to Dragon Age! I am glasd I waited for Fale to become a cheap $20. though it was more fun than Overlord, not as silly but cute and evil play was fun. (I like the Fable form of Divorce) Off with her head! HEHEHE no I didn’t kill any wives, I just lured them out into the dangerous lands and let them die behind me. oooops! Oh well.
November 30, 2009 at 6:44 am #57544Wow! Dragon Age is a massive game… I am only 3 hours into it and the only fault/frustration I can see is lack of shops.
The ogre battle was hard. (I am a rogue of course) I have made it to the refugee camp and filled my inventory 4 times over and encountered only 1 shop. Lots of demands for this and that and quests.. but no shops to get any supplies?? Why?!
November 30, 2009 at 7:47 am #57545Once you get into the towns and can move around the map, there are a bunch of shops. Make sure you purchase backpacks whenever you can it adds to your carrying capacity, very important. I had full inventory issues the whole time I played. Supposedly there is a storage area in the downloadable content, but I didn’t bother.
November 30, 2009 at 12:37 pm #57546Tevinter Imperium?
Arrrrggggggg……
Now that Bioware has gone and used the word “Imperium”, I’ve got a problem with my old Epoch PnP D&D campaign setting; which I had built as an NWN1 mod and plan to re-use again in a PW sometime. It used “Imperium” in the name of… get this… an old empire of long ago.
*sigh*
If I ever use it again, I’ll be accused of copying from Bioware. π‘
I guess I’ll have to use “Dominion” from now on.
December 1, 2009 at 2:30 am #57547LOL No just change your word Imperium to Emperium. ?? But alas I hear where your coming from, that would bug me too. Like Monopoly coming out and naming the Monopoly man Opinvu when I was the one who created that name 10yrs ago.

Wait, wait… what did I miss? Who said that? Who’s soooooo funny?
December 9, 2009 at 3:59 am #57550In the camp in Dragon Age, there’s a boy who’s standing next to his dad, the merchant, who’ll enchant your melee weapons for you if you’ve found a tome he’s able to use. That’s how he responds if you click on him! “Enchantment? . . . ENCHANTMENT!!!”
It’s so funny!I thought everyone knew about him.

December 9, 2009 at 5:20 am #57551Yes.. the retard that only says enchantment! That little… he won’t enchant aything I bring him! What a stuck up little…. Well his demands on quality are tooo high! hhehe
December 9, 2009 at 3:09 pm #57552Ahh, yeah, that guy. He’s supposed to be a little bit slow… kinda like me figuring out who you were talking about! Doh! Well, it’s all good, lol. π
