While it’s still fresh in our minds, what should we keep and what should we drop from the Gathering for 2011?

We did a lot (in no particular order):

    • Beer run to Syracuse
    • Booze Tour of Seneca Lake
    • Watching the NBA Finals at the Elks Lodge
    • Bonfire
    • Saturday Movie
    • Saturday Dinner
    • NFL Top Ten Debate
    • Roleplaying
    • Battletech
    • Madden on PS3
    • Borderlands on PC
    • Saturday Breakfast
    • Beer Sausages Dinner
    • The Van

Kill it with fire. We can have the next one in 5 to 10 years and be good.

more of this imo. Especially when we have downtime.

That was a pretty groovy change up

I pretty much agree with G. I don’t think borderlands or madden really qualify as something the group did since only a couple of us did those in the wee hours.

The beer runs and brewery visit were good but lets change out some of the lame ones and visit either new or proven good ones.

I liked the Booze tour, and for that the van was key (unless it was too expensive – in that case I certainly don’t mind driving folks around).

I also think a bit more roleplaying gaming or Battletech would be cool, as g said during the downtimes (though it can be hard to get going – in this case maybe deciding the system and stuff, getting characters started earlier, would help).

The bon fire was great (thanks again Guido) even if those bastiche NY skeeters feasted on this Masshole. So if it’s not a burden on him and his family, it’d be nice to keep that going.

For things I could do without, I totally loved seeing the A-team, but movies aren’t the most social events. Still, that was a great choice. If there’s something similar next year it’s a possibility, but I would probably put more gaming above it.

Multiple driving trips to beer halls is good too, but I might stick to one, either the Syracuse ones or the Finger Lakes ones. But seeing as I’d predict Fri-Sun is gonna be my usual dates, it might not matter much.

Yeah, the Bonfire and cookout are pretty much staples at this point, and at least one beer/booze run.

I do think more gaming would be cool – we are nerdy computer geeks – uh, retired cagefighters after all….

Van was a big help simply because it only required one driver to be beer-free, and since Thom is the guy, no one else had to forgo the alcohol. If it is too expensive, I’m sure we could contribute to the van fund.

I would also restrict beer runs to say 20 miles, unless we are going that way for other reasons. I wasn’t there for the Syracuse thing, but it sounded like it killed a lot of time.

Since I am the volunteer cook, I wouldn’t mind making a brunch at Thom’s or Guido’s place. We can set the menu ahead of time, take me on a supervised shopping excursion (or stop on the way up), and gather the ingredients. But no feeding drunks at 6AM – that is RIGHT OUT. More like 10-10:30 after I drag myself from the couch.

That’s all I can think of at this point….

    *More Gaming… obviously : )

*Bonfire moved to Saturday night would eliminate a whole day of dead man lying

*Me and Paul have found the only watering hole needed
(( Just say 60 Taps of micro brews))and within 20-25 minutes

    *oh yea more gaming

It was all kinds of win. Irish nacho’s and growlers for any tap beer.

Mule and Pat will go nuts over the great lakes porter and the Great Divide Espresso Oak Yeti Imperial Stout ( seriously, I’m in love with this brew).

Did I mention Arrogant bastard and Circus Boy ON TAP ?

    F.u.c.k and yes

Go ahead, check out that beer list, most of it is right in front of you and some nice eye candy to boot. Book it !!

*Keeps drinking his well deserved Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter happily*

    Espresso Imperial?

And I see they have Kona Brewing Longboard Lager… I got hammered to shit on that on my honeymoon and haven’t seen it anywhere since Hawaii. Good stuff.

A bar like that gives reason to have no reason to leave for anything.

I really need to make a better effort next year to attend.

The only issue I have with moving the bonfire to Saturday is that several folks have to leave late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. That would basically mean they couldn’t drink.
Best case would be everyone arriving Wed. or Thurs., but as things are now, it’s really hard to do.
Also, Janie’s (Pat’s wife) birthday is June 10th, so that weekend should be avoided in planning, and I think the next weekend is his anniversary, so both weekends are pretty much shot for him.

Brak – Don’t think that this post of wonder beer goodness party time excellent gets you off the hook for your inability to man up and join MFFL.

    On topic:

Saturday night bon fire is kinda no good as the thought of driving home the next morning isn’t a happy one. But I’d also volunteer to get up and make a buncha drunks some breakfast. I haven’t slept past 7:30 in like 5 years, so why stop now?
