Jólasveinarnir, The Yuletide Lads

I wasnt sure where to put this, it is some RP material that I thought might be fun in the run up to Christmas. Clearly there is no Christmas in Markshire, but who knows what else might happen during the dark winter months. Hope it is of interest.

Jólasveinarnir, The Yuletide Lads

Jólasveinar first appear in 17th century Scandinavia as the sons of Grýla and Leppalúði, who had appeared in the 13th century, and had a reputation for stealing and eating naughty children.

The Jólasveinar live in the mountains, and start to arrive in town, one a day, thirteen days before Christmas Eve, the last one arriving that morning. These 13 brothers are strange creatures, part troll and part prankster in human form.

Thirteen of the most commonly accepted names of the Jólasveinar are:

Pottasleikir – Pot Licker
Askasleikir – Bowl Licker

Skyrgámur – Skyr Gobbler
(Skyr, an Icelandic yoghurt)
Bjúgnakrækir – Sausage Snatcher
Gluggagægir – Window Peeper
Gáttaþefur – Doorway Sniffer
Ketkrókur – Meat Hooker
Kertasníkir – Candle Beggar
