I STILL can’t get that song out of my head. I was singing it in the shop here and one of my co-workers looked at me like I was nuts.
LOVE the DUBYA song!
April 25, 2006 at 4:25 pm #40048We here at Dirty Marmaduke Flute Squad Central aim to please! Glad you’re digging our tribute to the commander in chief. The new album should be ready by late Spring/early summer. Apart from the non-stop rawk, one track even features a kazoo solo, while still another features the jaw harp and slapping spoons!
(I’m totally serious. I’ve never heard music like this in my entire life. Being in the studio–well, our drummer’s home office, actually–has been a blast…)

I am a Pearl Jam fan. Does the kazoo solo compare to the epic “Bugs” accordian solo? *hangs head in shame*
April 25, 2006 at 5:49 pm #40050I still love that song too actually. I pull it up on my itunes every once in a while.. It’s a catchy tune.

April 25, 2006 at 5:51 pm #40051I like the progressive tempo. I just wanna know who SMR has buried in HIS back yard.

Holy cow…I forgot we used an accordian in one of our songs, too…Sounds like you’re gonna love our next release.
Thanks for the reminder, BTP! 😀

April 25, 2006 at 8:54 pm #40053I am now morbidly curious… BTP you gunna have some samples of these songs when I show up?
April 26, 2006 at 3:57 am #40054I gotta say, I NEED to hear this stuff. What is the band called again?
April 26, 2006 at 6:09 am #40055Does anyone every bury their dead in their own backyard no more?
April 26, 2006 at 11:27 am #40056Well, to provide supreme aural satisfaction, I present to you:
The Dirty Marmaduke Flute Squad, live at the Talking Head Club
Saturday, 18th February, 2006
(my 29th Birthday show)Download it NOW, fleshy mortals! Also note that it is most likely not safe for work listening (unless your boss is cool).
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=35053
Please keep in mind this is an amateur recording; the album will sound much different, as listens to the studio cut of George W can attest to. The club is kinda dumpy, and I love it all. But the toilets stopped working so people had to go to the bathroom in the nextdoor alley or the club down the street, the audio was filled with static and I had to switch mics about a third into the show. IT WAS AWESOME.
Oh yeah…and when I come in with the mouth guitar solo, that was because the audio for the guitar I was using was out for some reason. You’ll know it when you hear it.
I had a three-day weekend that weekend, and because of this show–among other events–I regularly refer to it as The Best Weekend Of My Life, So Far.

April 26, 2006 at 1:31 pm #40057Lol, mouth guitar…. He I remember my days in the dumpy clubs with the bad sound system. Maybe I should go back to that.. *grins*

June 23, 2006 at 4:54 pm #40059EDIT: Feel free to download Lone Wolf & Cub, the studio mix.

NOT SAFE FOR WORK unless your boss is cool.
DMFS’ true epic for our new album. Clocks in at a record 5 and a half minutes…Singing about samurai assassins and their sons who assist them. Total vocal meltdown. “Iron Maiden meets Nile” -fueled ending.
I had a hand in writing this one, and I’m exceptionally proud of it. The studio session was phenomenal…!

June 23, 2006 at 5:07 pm #40060*rubs hands* Better than GeorgeW? That song is in the “I have to mow the lawn for the next 2 hours” rotation. Neighbors prolly think I am nuts. That and Disturbed’s rendition of Shout from Tears for Fears help GETRDUN!

June 29, 2006 at 1:24 am #40063ok weirdly it picks up some time later.. I love the song. I bet your concerts are a riot. I should attend one some time. How far is it from your place to DC?
– mule
June 29, 2006 at 2:03 pm #40064If you’re attempting to make your way to central B’more from DC, plan for at least an hour on the road. If you need a place to crash, I’m sure my housemates wouldn’t mind if you sprawled out on the couch for a night.
Our next show is Thursday, 3rd August. Once the album’s completely finished, we’ll be heavily playing gigs. There will be plenty more options later in the year for you to come out on a weekend or something.

June 30, 2006 at 5:51 pm #40068WHERE did you find such sweetness? That ROCKED.
Check out these guys–scandinavian appliance rock. In the downloads section, you can see a video of them covering “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
http://www.hurratorpedo.org/June 30, 2006 at 8:53 pm #40069lol G, my friend has that song.. he plays it while he’s playing WoW…over and over and over and over and over..
– mule
June 30, 2006 at 9:07 pm #40070OK double post here… man hurra torpedo does well with their appliances. There was a band I once caught called skeleton key.. they had a similar thing going for them. Their percussionist used all junk items you might find in a junk yard. A lot of brass pipes and old pots and such. I actually used to have their CD..not sure what happend to it. I heard one of their songs once on the Sopranos…I think it was while they were in a strip joint too..heh..

PS: why is it that guy can’t pull up his pants?
September 12, 2006 at 5:07 pm #40071If you’re in the Washington, DC, area…We’re playing this Thursday (14th) along with Mosquito Death Squadron. All your DMFS favorites, plus a few from the forthcoming album: “Die Hûmpin’!”
http://www.myspace.com/dirtymarmadukeflutesquad
…And SMR is taking the 15th off from work! You know it’s going to be an excellent show when he’s willing to make it a three-day weekend! He SAVES LIVES, for crying out loud!!!

September 15, 2006 at 5:54 pm #40075Thanks again to mule, representing the Markshire crowd at the show last night. 🙂
I’ll post a link to the live recording once I know about it.
September 16, 2006 at 12:25 am #40076The show was great. You really need to play places with proper ceiling height for your presentation. That blasted fan knocked off your horn! I think that show was actually better than the last one. MDS was in good form too.
