These are all outdated… Monday at work I had to do some sampling around Iowa City. Since then I’ve put in over 20 hours of sandbagging efforts and last night the water started coming over the emergency spillway of the local reservoir.
As Dalton so eloquently put it…. “It’s gunna get worse before it gets better”
All these areas have at least 1-2 more feet of water at them now.
Here is a link to a local news station. The video of the water coming over the dam spillway is the one about 5 miles from my house. Water has come over that spillway only ONCE since that sucker has been built, this is the second time. Last time it was so tremendous it cut through a limestone area and uncovered a Devonian fossil gorge. Here’s another link to the 1993 flood and some images of it uncovering the gorge.
Wow! I read that the midwest flooding was the worst since 1993. How does it compare where you are?
You are getting all the rain that I’m not it seems. Supposedly the annual monsoon set in the state of Karnatakaa week ago. Up in Mumbai (Bombay), they have crazy flooding. Here in Bangalore, I’ve seen zilch.
