Treasures from the Gate?

Thanks to my BBC-World browsing, I came upon another news story-inspired idea.

Now, imagine that Gastlynik Gate is what we’re talking about here.

Can someone think of anyone who would risk a whole lot to recover something from inside the city? Mages? Jealous Merchants? Spurned lovers? Eccentric collectors?

I’d love to see someone contact the Thieves’ Guild to do a major caper in Gastlinyk Gate now that it’s a war zone. Are there any active members at the moment? Maybe I can get Kurm to recruit members of a party, as “one final mission” before he cuts his membership with the Guild. I would need another DM to assist with this if that’s the case.

Ironic that you should mention this….

I’m bringing Thorvald back to Foothold and was trying to think of a good way to explain it. Domf was thinking about bringing Dram back as well, but couldn’t really come up with a “why would he?” reason. How about we create a shadow-realm based device / object / whatever that was in safe keeping at the Fortress of the Gate. Maybe something that helped the defenders in some way. Now, with the Titan free and the Gate a war zone, SOMEONE wants to recover that object. Who better than Dram (a Shadow Dancer) and Thorvald (an Arcane Archer) to go get it?
