I am in the process of reinstalling NWN1 and I’m not sure what the current version that the server is running is. I don’t want to update too far and not be able to log on to MS, as that is the only reason I’m reinstalling it for…lol
June 28, 2009 at 7:22 am #57604Version 1.68 Hope that helps!
Peace,
CorJune 28, 2009 at 4:15 pm #57605is that the newest version? can I use the updater? or will that take me too far?
June 29, 2009 at 12:40 am #57606it is one behind the latest. There is a removal tool to remove one layer of the update. I am sure isf you search the sforums here for removal tool you might find the link.
July 1, 2009 at 9:35 pm #57607I tried to rollback and got a seemingly useless file. If anyone finds a link to something that will work, please post.
Your Governor misses you!

ahh yes, that looks like it’ll do it. Your instructions have a very important nugget of info that I had missed in my pursuit of a fix.
(I had thought I was supposed to be downloading a .exe previously)
ty sir
July 10, 2009 at 11:25 am #57610ok so I’ve downloaded the patch reversion, and because my NWN DVD is v.1.66, i needed the critical rebuild, which I downloaded last night, and it is not working this time… when I run the updater it says I need the crit. rebuild, when I run the crit, I get a message that says”you can’t use this patch with your current install of NWN” WTF does that mean? I have never had this problem in the past??? any one run into this also?

July 11, 2009 at 6:57 pm #57611This sounds easy, since the dvd is the latest it isn’t a patch that you need removed. Since the game isn’t corrupted you can’t use the crit rebuild.
It sounds to me like your stuck with the version on the cd. The revert process would work if you had to update after the install.July 12, 2009 at 1:04 am #57612okay!! so after some long hours of research on this one, I have found the answer. Opi, you are dead on with your description of my situation. So what I found was the crit rebuild file… NWNEnglish1.69OrigUpdate.exe would not work… but what I really needed, as you should understand why, was… NWNEnglish1.69HotUUpdate.exe
Anyone see the difference?
Bare in mind I have the diamond edition which is NWN, SoU, HotU, and kingmaker…
This was a simple fix, but with no information readily available, and Bioware no longer supporting NWN with Vista it turned out to be a major pain in the arse….
I guess thats the beauty of the internet…. The answer is out there…..
Thanks to all

Exactly, and as most of us have found, the premium modules all superceed each other. but why I faced this situation as I played for almost a year with Vista before the reinstall…
My best guess is a thread I happened upon wherein Bioware claimed new polices and practices regarding the further support of the NWN platform, and also a simplification of the current updating system….
There was some flak thrown their way for this one…
But I’m no expert in all this, but I will again be IG!!!!!!!

July 15, 2009 at 6:00 pm #57615That’s cool Boost. Hope to see you IG on one of the Fridays that we’re usually on. Due to vacations and such, we’ll be picking up playing on Fridays again on July 31st. Maybe we’ll see you there.
Peace,
CorJuly 16, 2009 at 1:33 pm #57616Thank you Op and Cor for handling these questions.
For future reference:
You can move the NWN folder anywhere and it will still work. So, if you are space crunched for the latest games and want to retire NWN for a bit … the easiest method is to burn it to DVD (assuming you don’t keep all of the haks from every world you’ve been to … burn those to a separate DVD). Of course, any alternate large format media will work (4-8gb flash drives for instance).
Removing the haks usually can free up most of the space you need. Those are usually much larger then the game itself.
If anyone ever wants a copy of the haks burned for them just PM me. I will burn them to disk and mail them to you.
